Enrolling Windows Devices in ClassHub

Windows Device Enrollment 

The process of linking the district or student BYOD devices to ClassHub is called enrollment. Once a device is enrolled in ClassHub, it does not need to be re-enrolled unless it is restoredreimaged, manually unenrolled or deleted in the ClassHub Settings portal under Devices. 

Windows Enrollment 

Windows devices can be enrolled in two ways, both of which accomplish the task of enrolling the device and installing the ClassHub Student Companion App. Depending on the volume of devices to enroll and/or your technical level, you may find one easier than the other. IT administrators will likely prefer Option One, and tech coordinators and teachers may prefer Option Two (especially for BYOD environments). You will need Windows Administrator privileges to complete Option 2. 

Option 1: Group Policy  

The easiest way to quickly enroll a large number of Windows devices in ClassHub is to use Group Policy with Active Directory. 

  1. Visit https://app.classhub.com/enroll and enter the enrollment code provided during the roll out process. You can also find your enrollment code at https://app.classhub.com/settings#district 

  1. If you’re on a Windows computer, the enroll page will automatically provide the Win32 and Win64 download links for the ClassHub MSI installer. If you’re on another platform, choose the Windows button at the bottom of the page. 

  1. Download the Squirrels Registry Tool from https://download.airsquirrels.com/ClassHub/ConfigTool/RegistryKeyCreationTool.exe  

  1. Run the Squirrels Registry Tool, select ClassHub as Application and choose the appropriate Registry Directory for your devices. 

  1. Check the “Enrollment Code” box, enter the district enrollment code provided to you and then click “Export .Reg file.” 

  2. Deploy the MSI and registry key to the computers you wish to enroll using Group Policy. For more help on that view the GPO Deployment guide included along with this document. 

  1. Once the MSI is installed on the device, it will connect to the ClassHub server and will appear in the Devices section of the ClassHub portal: https://app.classhub.com/settings#devices 

  1. The device is now enrolled in ClassHub and is ready for a Clever student user to sign in. 

 

Option 2: Individual Installation 

If you do not have access to Group Policy configuration, do not use a domain, are a BYOD classroom teacher or are enrolling a small number devices, individual installation will prove easiest. You will need Windows Administrator privileges to complete this option.  

  1. Visit https://app.classhub.com/enroll and enter the enrollment code provided during the sales process or by your District Administrator. 

  1. If you’re on a Windows computer, the enroll page will automatically provide the appropriate download link for the ClassHub Companion App installer. If you’re on another platform, choose the Windows button at the bottom of the page. 

  1. Run the downloaded MSI installer on the student device you want to enroll to begin the ClassHub Student Companion installation process. 

  1. Follow the prompts for each step during the installer process.
